Wombats and Wallabies in Snow

The other day I climbed Tasmania’s highest mountain, Ben Lomond, in show conditions and with a tough icy wind blowing. Even met a parrot (rosella species) on the way, a most unexpected place and time of the year to find one.

A wombat mamma and her baby kept one another warm in below zero conditions, too cold to even contemplate running away. The wallabies clearly wondered what a human was doing close to the summit this time of the year.
